Welcome to my webpage! For 2022-2023 I am a Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard Kennedy School working on my next book project.

I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Arizona State University in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. At ASU, I am the Associate Director the new Global Human Rights Hub,  a Senior Sustainability Scientist at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability and affiliated with the  
Center on the Future of War. 

I completed my PhD in Government at Cornell University in 2017. Previously, I held a predoctoral fellowship at UCLA School of Law's Williams Institute, a postdoctoral researcher position at ASU, and was a visiting scholar at the  Browne Center for International Politics at the University of Pennsylvania.

​My research centers on international law, international organizations, and human rights with more specific focus on UN treaty law, peacekeeping, women's , children's and LGBTQ rights . My book Committed to Rights was  published by Cambridge University Press.  My research has appeared or is forthcoming in the Journal of Human Rights, Journal of Legislative Studies, Human Rights Review, Politics & Gender, the International Journal of Human Rights, Law & Social Inquiry, Global Governance, the Research Handbook on Law and Courts, and the Washington Post's Monkey Cage on UN peacekeeping sex abuse, international law,  LGBTQ+ rights.   I am a Co-PI on a National Science Foundation award supporting initiatives related to the ASU Global Human Rights Hub.
